Hispanic Heritage Week was first celebrated in the United States in 1968. Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15) was first celebrated in 1988. During this 30 day period, Mexico, Chile, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Costa Rica celebrate their Independence Days.
